The first minister has announced that 'people in Wales will no longer wear face masks in public' after the Welsh Government decided to ban them. [Sources: 7]

The Secretary of State for Health has issued an order, effective June 26, requiring people aged 5 and over to wear face masks in public outdoor spaces and to maintain social distance. Companies do not have to require masks from their employees unless masks would pose a serious health and safety risk to employees or if they work alone in a closed space. Newsom's order also mandates the use of face veils when social detachment is not an option, but offices are not currently covered by the face veil requirement. Here, too, those in spaces where social detachment is less possible are encouraged to wear a mask as an additional precaution. [Sources: 1, 2, 3, 14]

Employers should identify employees, vendors and patrons who need face masks for their employees or vendors or patrons. Other times you might refuse to wear a face mask if your legitimate health condition prevents you from doing so safely. Some masks exacerbate the wearer's health conditions, such as heart attack, stroke or cancer. All employees, entrepreneurs, volunteers, customers and visitors must wear a mask, face protection or face covering. Personal care providers and their staff must wear masks and are also encouraged to offer masks to their customers and adopt guidelines requiring guests to wear masks. Companies serving the public must require their employees to either wear face veils or strictly enforce the rule and refuse to serve customers who do not wear masks. [Sources: 14]

If, exceptionally, a worker does not wear face cover or a mask is not required for his position within the EMCPA, commercial establishments should consider informing the person before maintenance. Although our office in Scotland has not currently listed a room where this is required, it is mandatory that all face masks be worn in all offices across Scotland. [Sources: 2, 5]

Some states have mandates for everyone to wear a face mask, as do some states that require some people to wear face masks and others that do not. Some states, such as the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, do not have masks, but they recommend that others wear them. [Sources: 3, 13]

If social isolation is not possible, workers can be encouraged to wear fabric masks or face coverings. People are asked to work in unattended nursing homes and wear face masks in closed spaces or crowded public places. [Sources: 7, 14]
